About | Red Bull Ignite7

What is Red Bull Ignite7?

Red Bull Ignite7 is back as New Zealand Rugby (NZR) continues the search for the next All Blacks Sevens and Black Ferns Sevens superstars. The event is designed to encourage talented athletes from all sporting codes, regardless of rugby experience, to come forward and have a go at Sevens.

A total of 48 male and 48 female athletes aged between 16 and 20 years-old* will be selected to take part in the event at The Trusts Arena, Waitakere, from 20 – 23 November, where they will compete for six places at the 2020 New Zealand Sevens Development Camps.

Designed to earmark new talent, the unique five-day event includes an intensive NFL-style combine which will test each athlete’s fitness and skill level, as well as an action-packed one-day sevens tournament which will be televised live on SKY Sport.

What’s involved?

Simply enter the game by completing the registration form and our panel of High Performance Sevens coaches and trainers will evaluate your application before selecting the final teams.

Registrations close Friday 30th  August.

The final 96 athletes will:

  • Be placed in one of the four men’s and four women’s teams
  • Train together with their team for three days
  • Undergo intensive testing to measure their skill and athletic ability
